Adding Zest 2 H20
It
is indeed an irony the way we Malaysians treat water. We are so frugal
with consuming water but we stand in the shower longer than we need to
or leave the tap running while we are brushing our teeth!
But
when it comes to drinking than we are drinking tek tarik or whatever
tarik for breakfast than during lunch it would be canned drinks or “teh o
limau nipis” (iced lime tea), during tea time than its “the tarik and
whatever tarik again. Of course
for those of us who are able to splurge than it would be the boutique
coffee with a large pot of thick sugar syrup beckoning us in the corner
or the ample free sachets of sugar.
We live in such a hot climate. We sweat and perhaps some of us merely perspire. We
cocoon ourselves in air conditioned rooms or offices and complain that
our skins are dehydrated! Than we run and splurge on miracle this and
that when the simplest miracle just ozzes free from the tap! Water!!!!
I
guess I don’t belong to the group of people who can afford cream
De’Lamer thus the simple way of life is for me. My choice of healthy
beverage includes loads of good H2O and at least a mug of green tea once
a day. (Yes I love coffee and tea too and have a mug each once a day!)
Do
I hear you groaning that H20 has no taste. No worries. You can always
flavour good old H2O. Add a couple of lemon slices to a pitcher of water
and leave it in the fridge and voila you’ve added some pizazz to the
drink. You can substitute lemon with basil leaves, mint leaves, lemon
grass and even cinnamon stick.
Here are 2 simple “recipe ideas” for you to try -:
Strawberry’s,
Cucumber, Orange/Lemon slices, mint leaves all added in a pitcher of
water, Leave in the fridge for 2 hours. Now your tap water has become a
delicious thirst quenching drink and it looks great on the table too J
Are you aware that both apples and cinnamon can raise your metabolism?
Add
1 thinly sliced apple and cinnamon stick into a pitcher of water. You
can refill 3-4 times the H2O before replacing the apples and cinnamon.
For a stronger cinnamon flavour you can boil a cinnamon stick in a pan
of water!
Hope that this encourages you to reach out and grab and increase your daily H2O intake of at least 1.5L/day
Cheers
Gurjit.
